World Conference on Faith and Order, 1910-1949 (inclusive) [microform].

The files contain the correspondence of Robert H. Gardiner from his files in Gardiner, Maine and Boston, Massachusetts dating from 1910-1924 and the correspondence of Ralph W. Brown, Gardiner's successor, dating from 1924-1931. Correspondence relates to the official and administrative aspects of the Faith and Order office. The last reel contains the minutes of the Faith and Order Commission, dating 1910-1949 and of its Executive Committee, dating 1910-1927. The files give insight into the formation of the Conference and its early operations. The collection complements the historical documents of the World Council of Churches, also held at Yale Divinity School Library.

Robert H. Gardiner was a lawyer and an active member of the Episcopal Church. He was appointed as the first secretary of the Episcopal Church's Commission on a World Conference on Faith and Order. After August, 1920, he served as General Secretary of the world-wide and interdenominational Continuation Committee appointed by the Preliminary Conference at Geneva. Ralph W.
